Frequently asked questions
In pain? Here is what you need to know
When can I come in with a dental emergency?
Every day: Monday to Saturday from 10:00 to 22:30, Sundays and public holidays from 10:00 to 19:30. Please call us on 02 527 25 12 before coming so we can prepare for your visit.
What counts as a dental emergency?
Severe pain (toothache), an abscess or swollen cheek, a tooth broken or knocked out after an accident, bleeding that will not stop after an extraction, a loose crown or brace that hurts.
What should I do if a tooth is broken or knocked out?
Pick up the tooth or fragment by the crown (never by the root), without rubbing it. Keep it in milk or in your mouth against your cheek, and come in as quickly as possible: for a knocked-out adult tooth, every minute counts.
How much does an emergency visit cost?
The Polyclinique Saint-Guidon charges INAMI (Belgian health insurance) rates, including for emergencies. Remember to bring your Belgian eID card or your health insurance details.
What about outside your opening hours?
The Brussels dental emergency service can be reached on 02 426 10 26 (weekends and public holidays). If your face is very swollen with a fever, or you have difficulty breathing or swallowing, call 112.
